On the way to Little League games

Both my grandsons were scheduled to play ball this morning, on the other side of town. I grabbed a water bottle and my camera -- a Canon PowerShot A480 -- and started walking more than an hour before the first pitch. Ninety photos and an hour later, I arrived at the field.

This happens every time. I take dozens of pictures and weed out, publishing only my favorites. That's what you get to see. If you live in Corning, or come to visit, I invite you to take your own walk and see if you can find the originals.

Glass Fest 2011

Glass Fest ~ Corning NY
May 26 ~ May 29, 2011

I'll be posting pictures from the Glass Fest after the fact. Just wanted to give everyone a reminder, whether you live in Corning or are looking for a place to visit (or live)!

Meantime, here are more photos of our fair city.

There are some of the many runners I've seen around Corning. October 2, 2011 is the 30th Wineglass Marathon...

The Chemung River is high, of course, after the many rains. The little island is covered with water...

A few days later, the waterline is down and the island is visible again. This happens several times each year...

Riverfront Centennial Park. The fountain draws sun-worshipers - big and small - all summer long...

Causes...

The Chemung River runs through Corning and draws numerous kayakers and canoeists...

Little League fields at Denison Park. T-ball for 4-6 year olds. Minors and Majors for older, more experienced players...

Spring, summer and fall, Corning Incorporated's Headquarters building, just off Market Street, offers a profusion of flowers. Follow the walkways, starting at Riverfront Centennial Park, to see them all...

Spring in Corning NY

I took these photos about a week and a half ago while walking across town to my grandson's t-ball practice.

Most of the photos were taken on Corning's southside on or near First Street.

I love this time of year when Spring is peeking its head out and giving us a glimpse of what's to come. So much rain this year, I know I'm not the only one who wondered if we'd ever have a true Spring.

The next five pictures are taken at Corning's Denison Park. The gazebo is set on a island in the middle of a pond...

Beyond the pond are the Little League baseball fields: T-ball, Minors and Majors...
