The VAMC and the National Cemetery at Bath, New York

About 20 miles west of Corning, alongside the Conhocton River (which is re-labelled the Chemung River once in reaches Corning) is the village of Bath, New York. Corning and Bath are both located in Steuben County.

On the south-west outskirts of Bath you’ll find the Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC) and a National Cemetery, one of 131 national cemeteries in 39 states (and Puerto Rico), according to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

In honor of Memorial Day 2012, I’m giving you pictures, not of Corning, but of this Bath facility. The individual gravestones were random choices.

No further words are needed as we honor those fallen heroes buried in the cemetery and those still living and being cared for at the VAMC.

  1. This day sounds like our Anzac Day - you have done a beautifully shot commemoration post for the fallen soldiers my friend :)

    1. Good morning, CCU. You're up early. Thanks for your words. Each Memorial Day, school children are driven to the Bath cemetery to place flags on the thousands of graves. It's an impressive sight.
