One Hundredth Post on Corning NY Step by Step!

I’m back from my Maryland/D.C. vacation just in time to celebrate CNYSBS’s 100th post. Yay! Would’ve been nice to do it soon after I returned (I’ve been home since Saturday evening), but, you know, “lifus interrupts!”

Whether or not you want to hear it, I gotta tell you. My (personal) Facebook account was hacked/spammed--whatever it’s called, maybe both. So, I’m closing down CNYSBS on FB. Also, all my computer files/documents disappeared. Luckily, my son insisted I install Time Machine backup on my MiniMac last August and I was able to restore the files. That night, after restoring, my Time Machine, which backs up daily for up to a year, crashed! Aargh!!! Add that to the other challenges I’m facing on my first generation MiniMac and I think it’s time for a new one ~ computer, that is. Further good news: Time Machine finally came back in all its glory!

So now you’ve heard a few of the challenges that popped up to test my vacation-rested mind and body. On to happier occurrences...

CORNING NY STEP BY STEP HAS, WITH TODAY’S POST, BEEN ALIVE AND ACTIVE FOR AN IMPRESSIVE ONE-HUNDRED POSTS. Well, it’s impressive to me anyways.

Painted Post

It all started August 28, 2010 as a way to share my photos with anyone in the world who might want to see them.

Well, it turns out that CNYSBS’s readers/viewers do come from around the world. Many of them are former residents of Corning NY who stop in for the memories. Others, I’m not sure why, but love seeing where they are coming from ~ U.S., Russia, United Kingdom, Poland, Germany, Indonesia, Brazil, Ecuador, France, Guatemala, Iraz, Indonesia, India, Italy, Hong Kong, Australia, Ukraine, Canada, and Belgium.

You see, I walk everywhere and always take dozens of photos. (It takes dozens to get those one or two really good shots.) What was I to do with them? My family only looks at so many before their eyes start to glaze over. So, I decided to start a blog about Corning NY, about the parts that I see on my walks. There are lots of sites out there that tell about the big stuff, like the Corning Museum of Glass and the Rockwell Museum of Western Art. That’s not what CNYSBS is about.

Finally, here we are, 100 posts later--AND almost two years. Oh goody, another celebration post in about six weeks. Stay tuned!

YOU are why CNYSBS continues. You keep looking at the posts, the photos. You comment, not a lot, but every little bit counts. Every blogger appreciates comments, so chime in any time, please!

To stay linked with CNYSBS, look up in the right hand column. Translate, Sociable, then FOLLOW BY EMAIL. Fill in your email address and you receive email notification each time there is a new post. No one else can see your address, not even me!

One last reminder which is silly, I’m sure, ‘cause you all probably know this already. If you click on a photo, it will be enlarged and gave you a lovely close-up, detailed view. Try it... you’ll like it!
