Corning has experienced cooler temperatures this week. Nighttime lows in the 50s and 60s. Daytime temperatures in the 70s and low 80s. Absolutely refreshing to everyone I've spoken with. It seems that while I was out of town visiting my son in Maryland, the heat was unfriendly and humid.
I took my first lengthy walk in a month because my leg has been bothering me. Loved everything about my little journey, not just the weather.
Just down the street, at the Comfort Inn, a group of Corvette devotees were gathering round their highly buffed red, white and blue cars after a drive to Corning from PA (which isn’t really that far away--I think we’re only about 12 miles from the state line).
And they’re off...
Grace Methodist Episcopal Church at the end of the block. Take note, too, of the old brick sidewalks.
Each year I take photos of this deteriorating 3-car garage. Someone with a sense of humor saw fit to place a wreath in the front of the middle door.
I couldn’t decide which shot was my favorite, so here’s the second, presented to you in “sepia”.
Gorgeous lilies, each bloom much bigger than my hand...
One of Corning’s newer Pulteney Street eateries ~ Slammin’ Jammin’ Southern Smoked BBQ. They have hush puppies!!
These last four photos were taken three days ago about 7:15 P.M. I walked up and down the dike beside the Chemung River to get them. I didn’t stay out too long because it was cold... really... down in the 60s and I was wearing a short sleeve shirt. Brrr!
I love your writing and the photos speak a lot about your wandering around Corning, Kathleen. Have a great day. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words, Muhammad. I've been out of the blogging loop for several weeks but will be back soon to view your wonderful photos.
DeleteI am too, Kathleen. The Fasting Month is nearly completed ( 8 more days ). I don't go out for taking photos this month but focus on religious activities and feel very weak during the day. :-) best wishes to you ans yours.
