Spencer Crest Nature Center

I've stepped out of bounds. The bounds being the city limits of Corning.

Just up the hill, behind Corning Community College is Spencer Crest Nature Center.

That's where my daughter invited me to go, along with my grandsons and several friends...

Just a short, beginner walk...

Two and half hours later we found our way out of the woods...

  1. Looks like a neat place to hang out Kathleen. We have a 54 acre nature preserve that's exactly one mile from our house. I'll get back there when the bugs die down a bit.

Thanks for dropping by. I got the idea for combining words with my images from John Daido Loori.

  2. Hi Kathleen, Thank you for your perceptive comment. Here's a quote from "Nature's Chaos" -- a book co-authored by Elliot Porter (photographer) and James Gleick (Writer): "The images selected for this book are mostly details of nature which emphasize how nature's apparent disorder can be reduced to aesthetically stimulating fragments."

I snagged a used copy of the hardback a few months ago. Great book.

  3. Hi Kathleen -- it's John again. I wanted to thank you for your comments re: the summer afternoon by the river and especially for your best wishes to Tracy and I on our milestone 40th anniversary.
