Sign up for Corning

Remember Corning's Historic Walking Tour on December 5, 2011? It surprised me to find out that I walked by those signs several times each week and didn't pay attention to them.

Now I've gathered up more signs from around Corning that show there's a lot of history behind this community. Let me know if you come to town and find them when you take a walk (or a drive!).

Brown's Cigar Store...

Concert Hall Block...

Ecker Drug Store...

Valerie Reep...

One of the many manhole covers found throughout Corning, made in Jamestown NY...

Brisco Bridge...

Achsinessink--across the street from the Corning Fire Department. YMCA on the left, CMOG and the "big black Corning Inc building" in the background.

Corning NY Step by Step's most popular post so far has been the January 2011 entry about the Corning Fire Department.

    1. That's one of the things I love about small towns... the hidden history just waiting to be found. I've walked by the location of the Achsinessink sign dozens of times over the years and never noticed it until last month. What else is there for me to discover!?
