I Haven’t Seen A Robin Yet

I haven’t seen a robin yet this spring. My tulips are 4-5 inches high and have been growing for at least six weeks in spite of the cold weather. Most of the signs of spring that I do see are the people, in the way they dress. Some bundle up, like me, and others set aside coats, scarves and gloves even on the chilliest days.

This Easter weekend brings us highs in the 40s and 50s, not bad for early spring and if the sun would come out it would be even better for a walk. So far, the sun has yet to appear and it’s already 8 AM.

HOKEY POKEY opens for the season today! Ice cream, gelato, so many fun cold treats.

While we’re waiting for the sun to come out and the robins to arrive, here are some pictures I took around Corning earlier this week.

  1. I was actually surprised that we had many birds, including robins, between the different recent snow episodes. I hope some of them can go visit you ;-)
The kitties spend a lot of time in front of Bird TV!

    1. I've had many people tell me they've already seen robins here in Corning, Carine. I'm still waiting and already it is Easter Sunday. Time for a walk.

  2. Nice pictures of Corning N.Y Kathleen. As for robins, here in Boise we have seen them since January. Which is really odd. They normally start to return first of April. I did see one yesterday in my cherry tree. I did have a robins nest in that tree last year. So I don't know if it is a returning bird from the nest or the original mother. Just have to wait and see what happens. My tulips are blooming in my front yard, also early.

Thanks for sharing Kathleen and also Liking my FB and following me at www.savorthefood.com

  3. I see Corning N Y only from your blog, Kathleen. What so wonderful place to live. It also remind me to a place where I use to stay in a small town developed by a mining company in Indonesia. So clean and not so many people. Thank you for a lovely post. hopping the Robins soon come to stay back at your place. :-)

    1. Muhammad, thank you for your kind words about Corning. Just under 12,000 people live within our city limits.

  4. Another look around your town where the people are as bundled up as we are when we venture out. The sun is glorious today but the wind at about 30mph and coming from the east is bitter.
Hope proper Spring arrives soon for us all! :)

    1. I think spring is finally arriving, Sally. Beautiful sunny days the last couple of days here in Corning. 9AM and full sun already. I have one crocus blooming. Squirrels dug up (and/or bit off) the rest.
